The Alaskan Malamute is known as an Arctic sled dogs that descended from the Arctic wolf. They are hard working and make a loving companion. Malamute’s are a stunningly beautiful large breed of dog, however they are very clean and almost odorless. Malamutes played a pivotal role in history of dogs and people. In the 1896 Klondike Gold Rush, Malamutes became indispensable to miners coming to Alaska to search for gold. However, this breed differentiates significantly from the similar but much smaller breed of dogs, Siberian Huskies, which were also present during the Gold Rush. In terms of speed and power, Huskies were agile and had more stamina for the long run but the Alaskan Malamute on the other hand, were stronger and more reliable for work.
